Inés Esnal (Madrid 1979) is an installation artist based in New York since 2005. Her architectural training influenced her understanding of art in relation to space from both phenomenological and formal perspectives. Esnal combines scientific strategies and artistic approximations in the creative process in order to achieve the artwork which is at once geometrical and atmospheric, logical and experiential.
She is a trained architect from Spain (ETSAM 2004) earning a Master’s of Science in Advance Architecture Design at Columbia University (2008) and researching Digital Materiality in relationship to Printmaking at the School of the Arts in Columbia University (2009).
Esnal has been the subject of four solo exhibitions at at the following venues: Opus Projects 526 W 26th St, New York, NY(2013), the Cervantes Institute NY (2011), the Architectural League of Madrid (2010) and the Leroy Neiman Center Gallery (2009). She has been awarded with the CODA Merit Award (2019) and a Caja Madrid Full Scholarship (2008).
She has commissioned work around the US, (New York City, Denver, Los Angeles, Washington DC) and around the World, (Dubai, Paris, Geneva, Madrid, Rome).
Inés Esnal (Madrid, 1979) es una artista de instalaciones radicada en Nueva York desde 2005. Su formación en arquitectura influyó en su comprensión del arte en relación con el espacio, tanto desde perspectivas fenomenológicas como formales. Esnal combina estrategias científicas y aproximaciones artísticas en su proceso creativo para lograr obras que son a la vez geométricas y atmosféricas, lógicas y experienciales.
Es arquitecta titulada en España (ETSAM, 2004), obtuvo una Maestría en Ciencias en Diseño Arquitectónico Avanzado en la Universidad de Columbia (2008) e investigó sobre Materialidad Digital en relación con el grabado en la School of the Arts de la misma universidad (2009).
Ha sido protagonista de cuatro exposiciones individuales en espacios como:
– Opus Projects (526 W 26th St, Nueva York, 2013),
– Instituto Cervantes de NY (2011),
– Liga de Arquitectura de Madrid (2010) y
– Leroy Neiman Center Gallery (2009).
Entre sus reconocimientos destacan el CODA Merit Award (2019) y una Beca Completa de Caja Madrid (2008).
Ha realizado encargos artísticos en diversas ciudades de EE.UU. (Nueva York, Denver, Los Ángeles, Washington D.C.) y del mundo (Dubái, París, Ginebra, Madrid, Roma).
